After that competition, Juarez departed for Europe to enter the youth ranks of FC Barcelona. However, the absence of an EU passport led the Catalan club to send him to Barbate, a club in the Andalusian regional leagues. At the close of the 2007\/2008 campaign with Barbate, he decided to return to Mexico and join his boyhood favourites Pumas UNAM.

He spent a season with their junior team, Pumas Morelos, before coach Ricardo Ferreti brought him into the senior side, where his qualities soon earned him a starting role. Juarez received a late call-up to the Tricolor squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup last July and performed so impressively in his four appearances there that he became a fixture in Javier Aguirre's plans.

Such is the coach's faith in the 22-year-old that he is among the Mexico players whom Aguirre expects to play a leading role in South Africa. The Mexican press take a similar view, believing that Juarez will be one of the players most closely pursued by covetous European clubs once the tournament is over.","e_index":6};
