On 21 July, the Edmonton-born left-sided midfielder ended his seven year association with Millwall by agreeing to join our Yorkshire rivals only for a dramatic turn of events concluding with his arrival at the KC Stadium on 1 August for an undisclosed six-figure fee and a two-year contract.

David has been recognised as one of Millwall's shrewdest purchases in recent seasons as he cost the London club just £30,000 from Arsenal in September 1999 following a loan spell.

Livers was originally a centre back while a trainee with the Gunners but soon established himself as the first choice in central midfield for Millwall. His tackling and work rate is said to have revived memories of the fearless Terry Hurlock during his Lions heydays.

David has the distinction of scoring the final Football League goal of the old millennium. He was presented with a commemorative bottle of champagne for his injury-time winner against Brentford on 28 December 1999.

He was a near ever-present in the Lions teams that won the Division Two championship in 2000-01 and reached the Division One (now Championship) Play-Offs in 2001-02.

Livers also played in all seven games as Millwall reached the FA Cup Final against Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium in 2004.

He passed the 300 senior appearance mark during the 2005-06 season which culminated in him collecting the Lions' Player of the Year award.

David's 14 goals for Millwall included a stunning late equaliser against the Tigers when we visited the New Den on 14 February 2006

;
