René Aufhauser has spent his entire club career in Austria and has become a pivotal member of Josef Hickerberger's national team. A driving force in midfield, with an international goal tally in double figures, the FC Salzburg man be a man on a mission this summer.
Won Austrian Bundesliga title with Salzburg in first season as professional, in 1996\/97. Remained at club for next four seasons but no further trophy success.
Career picked up after joining Grazer AK in 2001, with regular involvement in European competition, two Austrian Cup triumphs and club's first ever Austrian championship.
Handed national team debut in March 2002 by Hans Krankl; played in all eight of Austria's UEFA EURO 2004 qualifiers, scoring one goal (in 5-0 win v Belarus).
Eight appearances also in 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign; scored winning goals at home to Wales and Northern Ireland.
Hit hat-trick against Trinidad and Tobago in November 2006.
Rejoined Salzburg in 2005 and won third Austrian title – a decade after his first – as one of few Austrians in Giovanni Trapattoni's side.
