An unused squad member at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Markus Rosenberg will be straining at the leash to make an impact at UEFA EURO 2008 after a hugely productive German Bundesliga campaign in which the 25-year-old striker finished as Werder Bremen's top scorer with 14 goals.

Started out with Malm FF but entered limelight in 2004 season when sent on loan to Halmstads BK; although Malm won title, he scored 14 goals as Halmstad pushed them hard to finish a close second.

Returned to Malm in 2005 but after half a season joined AFC Ajax, scoring 12 goals in debut Eredivisie campaign and winning Dutch Cup (2-1 vs  PSV Eindhoven in final).

Lost place at Ajax following season to Klaas Jan Huntelaar and moved to Bremen in January 2007.

Scored on senior international debut – 1-1 draw against Korea Republic in Los Angeles, January 2005 – and also in first competitive encounter UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against Liechtenstein (3-1).

Two starts and four substitute appearances in UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying campaign.
