Montevidean born and bred, Seba spent his teenage years with Montevideo Wanderers, one of the Uruguayan capital&#8217;s lesser lights, making his first division debut with them as an 18-year-old in 1999.<BR><BR>Impressed by his polished performances, the then national coach Victor Pua took him to the 2001 Copa America in Colombia, giving him his first cap in the 1-0 defeat of Bolivia. Though he featured in some of the warm-up games for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea\/Japan&#8482;, he played in none of the qualifying matches and failed to gain a place in the squad for the finals.<BR><BR>In 2003 he joined Nacional and played what would be his last game for La Celeste in five years in a friendly against Japan, even getting on the scoresheet in that game.<BR><BR>Overlooked by Pua&#8217;s successors Juan Ramon Carrasco and Jorge Fossati, he gave a positive drugs test following a Copa Libertadores match in 2004. Six months later he was back in action for Wanderers, where his fine performances resulted in a move to Norway&#8217;s Rosenborg.<BR><BR>After a spell with Swedish club Hammarby his career took an upward turn in early 2008 when he was signed by Spain&#8217;s Villarreal. Back in the footballing mainstream again, he did enough to persuade Oscar Tabarez to give him an international recall. Appearing in the May friendlies against Turkey and Norway, he then came on for a few minutes in the South Africa 2010 qualifier against Peru.<BR><BR>Tabarez gave him a starting slot for Uruguay&#8217;s next qualifying match against Colombia in Bogota. Eguren responded by scoring the only goal of the game. Keeping his place in the side, he would appear in ten of La Celeste&#8217;s remaining games in the competition, including the two-legged play-off with Costa Rica.<BR><BR>After falling out of favour at Villarreal and failing to complete a move to Lazio, the midfielder returned to Sweden with AIK Stockholm, his sights firmly set on recovering his form and fitness in time for the world finals.
