Versatile, fleet-footed and with a killer's eye for goal, Gonzalo Fierro can play in any position on Chile’s right flank, from wingback to winger, although it is in a right midfield role that he has enjoyed his most successful seasons. Regarded as a legend with his first club Colo Colo, and currently plying his trade with Flamengo in Brazil, Fierro has not always been a regular at international level, but he has performed proficiently every time Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa has called on his services.

The ‘young sniper’, so-named by his country’s enthusiastic media for his impressive goal-scoring record, possesses an exceptional right foot that has helped bring about a total of seven league titles in both Chile and Brazil, where he has played his football since 2008.

Fierro was one of the key components of Claudio Borghi’s all-conquering Colo Colo side of the mid-to-late 2000s, where he shared a star-studded dressing room with Matias Fernandez, Humberto Suazo, Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, all of whom have since continued to impress for La Roja when selected.

Fierro received his first cap for Chile in 2006 in a friendly against Colombia. He has appeared in regular FIFA World Cup™ qualifying squads under Bielsa, and although he failed to actually make it out onto the pitch throughout 2008, he has recently regained the confidence of the national coach, a timely boost ahead of South Africa 2010.
","0E9052569923A91555E1DAF3C456F9CD":"
;
