A physically strong, vastly experienced front-runner, Emile Heskey has almost made 500 league appearances during his career. After making a stir at hometown club Leicester City - where he made his Premier League debut as a raw 17-year-old, became a first-team regular in 1995\/96 and won two League Cups under Martin O’Neill - he signed for Liverpool in 2000 for a then club-record fee.

His first full season on Merseyside was a resounding success, with the burly striker featuring in 36 Premier League games and helping the Anfield outfit to victory in the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup, as well as scoring in August 2001’s UEFA Super Cup triumph over UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich. Having enjoyed a highly productive strike-partnership with Michael Owen, both players left the Reds in the summer of 2004, with Heskey’s career taking him to Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and current team Aston Villa.

Scorer of six goals in 16 appearances for England at U-21 level, on 28 April 1999 the 1.88-metres tall forward was handed his senior debut by then coach Kevin Keegan as a substitute for Kevin Phillips in a friendly against Hungary in Budapest. Heskey went on to play at UEFA EURO 2000 and 2004, as well as being an ever-present for the Three Lions at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea\/Japan™, when he scored in the 3-0 Round of 16 win over Denmark. After two years in the international wilderness, Heskey was brought back into the England fold by Steve McClaren in 2007 to join forces with former partner-in-crime Owen following an injury to Wayne Rooney. He has remained in the picture under Fabio Capello, with the Italian strategist handing him his 50th cap against Belarus in Minsk in October 2008.<\/P>","9EBD0BFF9766B31DEF99430639A2F292":"Newcastle Jets FC","A7F9B63E25A659E5":"Emile Heskey","F27CBDD6332F20A59321B0F4E9CF2AB8":"19","e_index":1};
