After making a stir at hometown club Leicester City - where he made his Premier League debut as a raw 17-year-old, became a first-team regular in 1995\/96 and won two League Cups under Martin O&#8217;Neill - he signed for Liverpool in 2000 for a then club-record fee.<BR><BR>His first full season on Merseyside was a resounding success, with the burly striker featuring in 36 Premier League games and helping the Anfield outfit to victory in the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup, as well as scoring in August 2001&#8217;s UEFA Super Cup triumph over UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich.
