Alex McLeish called Souttar into the senior Scotland squad for the first time in May 2018, but he was forced to withdraw due to hip and hamstring injuries. In November 2021 Souttar was called up by Steve Clarke to the Scotland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark.
