An experienced midfielder who appeared for Russia at both the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2004, Igor Semshov might be little known to many fans in Austria and Switzerland due to his lack of exposure in European club competition.

Born in Moscow and has spent his whole career there; first with PFC CSKA Moskva then, for an eight-year stretch, with FC Torpedo Moskva and since 2006, with FC Dinamo Moskva.

Seldom injured or suspended, missed just three league games in final four seasons with Torpedo and only four in his first two campaigns with Dinamo.

Just two European campaigns, both in UEFA Cup with Torpedo (2001\/02 and 2003\/04).

Third top scorer in Russian Premier-Liga in final season with Torpedo (12 goals).

Won first international cap just before 2002 World Cup; started first two games at finals against Tunisia (2-0) and Japan (0-1).

One game at UEFA EURO 2004 – as substitute in final group encounter against Greece (2-1).

Nine UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying appearances, including eight in starting XI.
