Back in the limelight after ending the 2007\/08 season as Serie A's top goalscorer, Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero goes into his seventh major tournament at the top of his game. The one-time golden boy of Italian football, he will be hoping to transmit his Juve form on to the international stage at UEFA EURO 2008™.
Joined Juve from Calcio Padova in 1993 and soon became Bianconeri fan favourite, replacing legendary Roberto Baggio.
Won first Scudetto, aged 20, in 1994\/95; stunning introduction to UEFA Champions League the following season, scoring in his first five matches as Juve went on to lift trophy.
Second league title in 1996\/97 and third in 1997\/98, in which he scored 21 Serie A goals and ten in ten games in the UEFA Champions League as Juve reached a third successive final (but lost to Real Madrid CF).
Twice a European champion with Italy at Under-21 level, but disappointing showings at EURO '96™ and 1998 FIFA World Cup.
Missed two good chances in UEFA EURO 2000 final v France having scored earlier v Sweden; ever-present four years later in Portugal; mainly a substitute in 2006 World Cup win, scored second goal v Germany in semi-final and penalty in final shoot-out v France.
Two more championships with Juve (2002 and 2003); stayed with the club in Serie B after enforced relegation; triumphant return to top flight with 21 goals in 2007\/08 (one more than long-time strike partner David Trezeguet).
