He joined Mervue United&#39;s youth team at the age of 11. In the summer of 2016 he joined Premier League side Brighton &amp; Hove Albion on trial, impressing enough for the club to offer him a two-year scholarship with the under-18 side. On 31 January 2019, Connolly joined League One leaders Luton Town on loan for the remainder of the 2018&#8211;19 season. On 27 August 2019, Connolly scored his first senior goal in a 2&#8211;1 away win over Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup.
