Started out with CF Estrela da Amadora, where he played 53 games over three seasons, bringing him to the attention of FC Porto. His move north in summer 2000 heralded a successful two-year stint at Das Antas. Andrade established himself as a defender of great pace and some promise, as Porto won the Portuguese Cup in 2000\/01 and then the Super Cup.
2002\/03: Transferred to Deportivo for €13m but did not have the best start after breaking his foot on his league debut against Real Betis Balompié. Returned to make eleven appearances in the Primera División before sustaining a leg injury in the spring.
